Description of Workers: Tiny, about 1/32-inch to 1/16-inch (1 to 1.15 mm); jet black color.

Habits:

You may find small craters of fine soil marking the nest openings in the ground. These ants also nest in woodwork or masonry of buildings. Little Black Ants are omnivorous and are an occasional house invader.

Management:

Management involves treating colonies in wall voids with dusts. Baits are also effective for use indoors. Outdoor colonies can be controlled by drenching the colony with a liquid insecticide labled for such use (follow label directions carefully).
