Vision
Lincoln’s Health for All Coalition promotes a community infrastructure where every person experiences a healthy, high quality life without discrimination. We champion a whole-health model that is inclusive, accessible, affordable, and acceptable across the lifespan. .
Mission
To define, support and celebrate Health for All practices through connection, collaboration and dialogue.
Values
Health is a basic human right. There are enough resources that everyone can lead a healthy life regardless of social identities. We embrace shared responsibility and believe that those most affected by barriers to health should have a voice in shaping decisions and be actively involved in creating solutions.
Approach
We recognize and uphold the inherent dignity and worth of all people. We will be ‘person first’ while addressing systemic issues. We will build on strengths. We will do this work by listening, being humble, compassionate, abundance-minded, inclusive, and kind.
Lincoln’s Health for All Coalition started in 2021 and was initially supported and instigated by Well Connected Communities, a national health and well-being initiative of the Cooperative Extension System—in partnership with National 4-H Council and support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF)—that worked to ensure that life-long health and well-being were within everyone’s reach.
The Coalition started in partnership between an Extension Educator along with adult and youth Master Health Volunteers (now called Community Wellbeing Advocates).
The coalition engaged in strategic planning, which led to the conclusion that all coalition efforts needed to be driven by the voices of those most in need of health equity. Lincoln Health for All Coalition partnered with researchers from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to conduct focus groups with community members. The results of the focus groups are summarized in the Community Voices on the Health of Our City report. The Coalition continues to take action to address health equity needs, as voiced by members of the community who are experiencing the greatest health inequities.
