Carolyn Eschliman is receiving Lancaster County 4-H’s March “Heart of 4-H Award.” She started by judging 4-H crochet and knitting at the Lancaster County Super Fair and Nebraska State Fair. For the past 12 years, she has helped 4-H volunteer Kath Conroy during sewing help sessions for 4-H’ers held at the Sewing Centre of Lincoln (formerly the Bernina Sewing Center). At the help sessions, Carolyn works with 4-H sewists on their sewing projects prior to the Lancaster County Super Fair, giving guidance and helping solve problems.
“Personally, it’s been satisfying to help young girls in the early stages of developing their sewing skills,” Carolyn said. “I know it’s a talent that will serve them well over a lifetime. I try to check the fair exhibits every year to see how the girls have done, and attend the Fashion Show when I can.”
