About the Contest

The Lancaster County 4‑H Dog Virtual Trivia Contest is an opportunity for 4‑H members to test their knowledge of dog science and skills in working with dogs — as well as expand their knowledge. The contest will be available online Wednesday, May 6, noon–Wednesday, May 13, 11:59 p.m. Preregistration is not required. 

The contest consists of questions including, but not limited to, breed identification, dog body language, parasites and nutrition/feed (age/stage). The 2026 contest focuses on working breeds. No study resources are to be used while participating in this contest.

Study Guide

Age divisions: Junior (ages 8–10) · Intermediate (ages 11–13) · Senior (ages 14–18)

Breed Identification
  • Be able to identify various breeds from the Working group.
  • Seniors be able to name 25 breeds, Intermediate be able to name 20 breeds, and Juniors be able to name 15 breeds.

Dog Body Language
Parasites 
  • Be familiar with common internal parasites in canines: roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, whipworms and heartworms.
