Lancaster County 4-H presents a Heart of 4-H Award to a Lancaster County 4-H volunteer each month in recognition of outstanding volunteer service. The purpose of this award is to recognize volunteers who are, indeed, the heart of 4-H.

Liza May is receiving the Lancaster County 4-H September “Heart of 4-H Award.” She has been co-leader of the Prairie Explorers 4-H club for 2 years, and previously was a club project leader for 2 years. Prairie Explorers has nearly 30 members and has repeatedly been recognized as a Nebraska 4-H Club of Excellence. Liza has led club activities such as rocket launches, tie-dye shirts, making cinnamon rolls and garage/bake sales to raise funds for local charities. In addition, Liza has volunteered at the Lancaster County Super Fair with 4-H static exhibit set-up and staffing shifts at 4-H Council’s food stand.
“I have loved getting to see our club members grow and learn things over the years,” she says. “4-H really sets them up with so many skills that will help them out later in life.”
