Welcome to Nebraska Extension in Lancaster County’s Virtual Agricultural Literacy Festival. The Lancaster County Ag Festival is typically held in person each spring, partnering with local schools to reach 4th grade youth. Melissa Bartels, Cropping Systems Educator at Nebraska Extension in Butler and Polk Counties, provides an overview of Nebraska's main two crop industries: corn and soybeans. This lesson highlights these two crops, while also taking a deeper look into the history of how these industries have evolved over time.

Hannah Hosick, Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation Education Specialist, provides an overview of corn’s growing seasons, equipment used and corn use/by-products.

Brooke Tempel, Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation Education Specialist, provides an overview of many different agricultural careers, while relating each to specific agricultural industries.

Doug Reznicek, John Deere Tech Program Instructor, provides an overview of this agricultural industry while touring the facilities of Southeast Community College’s John Deere Tech program in Milford, NE.
