Avoid Portion Distortion
With MyPyramid's Specific Guidelines

Alice Henneman, MS, RD, Extension Educator & Dietitian

MyPyramidThis month's newsletter is a little different. Rather than writing about the new MyPyramid, I've put together a slide show. It's full of pictures to help you use MyPyramid to avoid portion distortion.

If you'd like to print a copy of what is on each slide, I've provided a link to a print-friendly copy in item number 2 below.

For those who would like to download the powerpoint, I have made it available under item number 3.

As I'm trying something different this month, I'd appreciate if you'd take a minute and complete the feedback form in the LIGHT BLUE box at the bottom of this page on how you liked it. THANK YOU!

1. Slide Show

To advance to the next slide, click on the RIGHT ARROW at the BOTTOM the page. Depending on your computer, some slides may take a little longer to appear.

NOTE: Clicking on the above "slide show" link opens a new browser window. To close the window and return to this screen, click on the small "X" in the upper right hand corner of the new browser window.

2. Print-friendly copy of slides

This link takes you to a handout of what is on each slide.

3. PowerPoint

Follow the directions in the following YELLOW box to download the PowerPoint. Use/adapt whatever slides you feel will be most helpful to you!

You may wish to print a copy of these before beginning your download; click HERE for a printer-friendly copy of the directions.

  4. Click on the appropriate option for your Web browser and save the file onto your hard drive ... remember to save it in a folder where you will be able to find it later on. NOTE: The name of the file is: MyPyramid-portions.ppt

  5. Once the file is saved onto your hard drive, open up your PowerPoint program.

  6. In PowerPoint, open the file you saved onto your hard drive This should be the actual PowerPoint file (MyPyramid-portions.ppt).

  7. Enjoy the show!

TROUBLE-SHOOTING: Viewing the PowerPoint file through a Web browser may cause the file to have some problems ... such as missing bullets, color changes etc. To see the files intact, save the PowerPoint file to your hard drive and then view it through the PowerPoint program itself. Any questions or problems, ask your computer support personnel or e-mail us through the feedback box below; include your e-mail address to receive an answer.
