ANSWER: A student's hands with special lotion which "glows" under ultraviolet light to show if hands have been properly washed.
About the Photo:
This handwashing presentation is part of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension Nutrition Education Program (NEP)'s school enrichment program. Nutrition kits are delivered to the classroom by NEP staff who give an initial handwashing presentation, leave the kit with the teacher for up to 3-weeks, and return for a final food preparation activity.
Currently, 15 Lincoln Public School elementary schools qualify to participate in the NEP school enrichment program (based on income eligibility). 3,808 students in 214 classrooms participated in NEP school enrichment during the 2006-07 school year. Currently, teachers are signing up for the upcoming school year.
