EGG
Cam is part of Embryology - a 4-H School Enrichment
Project sponsored by University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Extension in Lancaster County.
Over
the past three years, a variety of ducks and chickens,
peacocks, turkey, quail, pheasant and guinea fowl
have hatched on EGG Cam.
Once
the eggs hatch, the EGG Cam view is switched to the
baby birds so you can enjoy their antics before they
are sent home with a local farmer.
The
current view (photo) is of Guinea fowl eggs. The eggs
were rescued from a large community nest where an
ambitious hen was doing her best to keep the 50 eggs
dry during a heavy rainstorm. The farmer moved the
hen to a safe, dry place and then gathered the eggs
so we could hatch them. The expected hatch date
is June 20 (our closest guess).
In
addition to watching birds hatch on-line, you'll also
find research-based resources to help you learn more
about incubating eggs and raising poultry.
