Strengthening Family Treasures
Huntington Elementary School Camp
About the Huntington Family Treasures - Student/Parent Day Camp: Fourth and fifth graders and their parents learned more about family and friends while practicing leadership, communication and problem solving skills. Families participated in group activities, separate sessions, and had one-on one time with each other. Parents shared strategies for parenting in today's world. Students discussed ways to minimize bullying. For lunch, campers created individual pizza quesadillas and fruit smoothies, as a part of a 4-H food's experience. They supported each other as they stretched their skills at the UNL Recreation Center Team Development Course. Students took great pride in watching their parents successfully climb the wall. The grant funded event was co-sponsored by Huntington Elementary and UNL Extension in Lancaster County.
