About Biosolids:

Lincoln’s Biosolids Land Application Program is 20 Years Old! On May 12, 1992, the first truckload of the City of Lincoln’s dewatered biosolids was delivered to farmland in Lancaster County. This event ended a decade of planning by Lincoln’s sanitary engineers to dispose of this municipal organic waste in a more environmentally responsible, beneficial manner — rather than being buried in the landfill. In the last 20 years, more than 100 area farmers have applied nearly 600,000 tons of biosolids to their cropland, improving their soil and increasing yields. Read more here
