PRESS RELEASE: Nebraska Association of Bed and Breakfast (NABB) Hosts Aspiring Innkeeper Workshop & Annual Fall Conference, Oct. 22 & 23
Have you ever thought about being an innkeeper at your own bed and breakfast? As the Nebraska Tourism Commission begins to implement a new strategic plan, it is hoped that tourism in our state will increase dramatically. As the tourism action plan begins to roll out, lodging opportunities will need to increase. If you enjoy meeting new people, are interested in becoming a small business owner, and take pride in providing warm Nebraska hospitality, you have the makings of a successful innkeeper. Convert your home, cabin, or rural farmstead into a B&B and welcome guests from around the globe.
To help you prepare for the world of innkeeping, The Nebraska Association of Bed and Breakfast (NABB) is hosting an Aspiring Innkeeper Workshop on Monday, Oct. 22, 8am–1pm as part of their annual Fall Conference. The workshop will be held at Barn Anew B&B in Scottsbluff/Gering, 2 miles west of the Scotts Bluff National Monument on the old Oregon Trail road. http://www.barnanew.com
Prospective innkeepers will be introduced to the ABC’s of Innkeeping by veteran innkeepers Harriet Gould from Pine Crest Farms B&B in Valparaiso and Linda Ard, from Burchell’s White Hill Farmhouse Inn in Minden. A continental breakfast and lunch are included in registration fees. Social media marketing will be showcased during an afternoon session where participants are encouraged to BYOD – Bring Your Own Device. The evening meal will be celebrated in Bayard with an Oregon Trail Wagon Train event. On Tuesday, innkeepers will get updated on the new Tourism Strategic Plan, tour Barn Anew, and be engaged in other informative sessions.
Early bird and other registration information may be found at the NABB website http://www.nebraskabb.com or by calling 1-877-223-NABB (6222)
