4-H Spotlights - New at the County Fair! 4-H Kids Agricultural Discovery Zone

New this year at the 2004 Lancaster County Fair was a 4-H Kids Agricultural Discovery Zone open all five days of the fair! It featured hands-on agricultural activities for youth of all ages to see, touch and smell.

Activities and exhibits included:

  • Seeing Larry, a 1,000 pound Hampshire boar
  • “Milking” a fake cow
  • Touching unprocessed sheep wool
  • Climbing and sitting in a mid-sized John Deer tractor
  • Viewing miniature farm and farm equipment display
  • Interactive exhibits on bees and products which come from cattle
  • Picture opportunity in various funny farm cut outs

At the Kids Ag Discovery Zone Kick Off, members of Lancaster County 4-H and Waverly FFA put on farm safety demonstrations and a puppet show.
